Our Story
SKD Clothing is more than fashion, it’s a celebration of identity, heritage, and pride. Our brand was born from a story, a journey of staying true to who you are and where you come from.
Growing up, my grandmother would tell me stories with lessons, tales that entertained me but also shaped my values and my perspective on life. She also called me the “son of the soil,” a reminder to stay grounded and never forget my roots.
When I moved to Belgium, I struggled with my name. I would spell it out instead of saying it aloud, afraid it would be too difficult for others to pronounce or that I might be laughed at. The day I finally spoke it, I was laughed at not only by strangers but by friends too. It was a moment that made me realize that being proudly African didn’t always feel easy. Many of my brothers and sisters had to westernize their names to fit in. That didn’t sit right with me.
SKD Clothing was born from the desire to change that narrative. To make it cool to be African, to be proud of your roots, and to wear your story with pride. SKD stands for Sharif Kwadwo Dwomoh - Son of the Soil. Every piece we create is a reminder to own your story, embrace your identity, and inspire others to do the same.
When you wear SKD, you wear more than clothing you wear your story.
